Springholm School was built in 1969 following the closure of Crocketford and Kirkpatrick Durham Schools. The original Springholm School, which is now a private house, was closed in 1946.
The school is situated in the village of Springholm on the C30 from Springholm to Kirkpatrick Durham, approximately 1.5 miles from Kirkpatrick Durham, 2.5 miles from Crocketford and 6 miles from Castle Douglas.
