Who are we?
The Community Council in Castle Douglas has been around since 1975 when Scotland divided Local Authorities into district Community Area
The Community Council in Castle Douglas has been around since 1975 when Scotland divided Local Authorities into district community areas. The Committee consists of a Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and members, all local to Castle Douglas. Locally elected members and police are also represented at the meetings.
What do we do?
The role of the Community Council is to
- Listen to the views of the people within the community and represent their views to public bodies in our area
- Comment on relevant planning and licensing applications within the area
- Work with the community to improve our surroundings and quality of life
