A Ready Steady Let’s Cook Evening was organised by the Food Town Initiative and Crossmichael Primary School on Thursday 11th June and see the images above of the evening.

Local Chefs Tom Kirkpatrick and Michelle Robertson worked with two local “Celebs” Mungo & Ali who did their best to prepare dishes whilst answering questions from our compere for the night Pauline Drysdale. This was great fun and in the circumstances both our chefs and celebs produced excellent dishes from a surprise shopping bag of ingredients. These includes as the main course haddock and a loin of lamb. Both chefs provided 3 courses including starter mains and sweet.

After the cook off there was a great cooking demonstration from Linda McTurk a local housewife who has done many cooking demos for the Rurals in Scotland. This included venison and many people went up on stage at the end for a taster.

A great night was had by all and the event raised over £600 for  the Wamboo Primary School in Kenya who are in desperate need of books.
