Who are we?
The Community Council in Castle Douglas has been around since 1975 when Scotland divided Local Authorities into district community areas. The Committee consists of a Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and members, all local to Castle Douglas. Locally elected members and police are also represented at the meetings.
What do we do?
The role of the Community Council is to
Listen to the views of the people within the community and represent their views to public bodies in our area
Comment on relevant planning and licensing applications within the area
Work with the community to improve our surroundings and quality of life
From time to time we require new members to join the Council and there are vacancies for those who wish to join. For further information please contact one of the members.
